How To Avoid Remodeling Chaos.....
Keep It Clean:
-Before your project begins, have clear expectations with your contractor as to who is responsible for the clean up, and to what extent. As the homeowner, you can take fundamental steps like removing any unneeded items in the remodel area. Removing clutter will help the contractor move forward with your project without disturbing your personal items.
Keep Open Communication:
-It is is good to communicate with respect to the chain of command. Please don't distract the crew to the point that you delay the process. If you have concerns about the job, route them through the Lead Contractor.
Be Accommodating:
-Work with the Lead Contractor to keep workers comfortable. Plan for lunch and restroom breaks. If possible, have a dedicated staging area for contractors to store tools and materials so they can grab them easily and keep the job moving forward.
Make a Plan:
-If your renovation will put key rooms out of commission, plan how you are going to adjust. If you are going from two bathrooms to one, prepared for some traffic management.
Professional Cleaners:
-General Contractor handles a final clean up after the job is complete. Consider hiring a cleaning professional to compete a through deep cleaning of your home post construction to make it feel like the brand new space it is!
